immunosuppression Reduction or elimination of an immune reaction.
 
incidence The incidence rate is the proportion of persons in the population who develop a new case of a certain disease within a specific period of time, usually one year.
 
inflammatory Inflammation is the reaction of living tissues to infection, irritation or other injury. Inflamed tissues are characterised by redness, swelling, warmth and pain. Anything that stimulates the inflammatory response is said to be inflammatory.
 
isotretinoin 13-cis-retinacid, a vitamin A synthetic derivative/modification which is often used for severe forms of acne. Women should be aware that the use of isotretinoin has been shown to cause fetal defects.
